IWCF Course

IWCF Course

IWCFWCS at IDT, Dehradun acquired IWCF accreditation in July 1997 for conducting well control courses for drilling personnel. This course aims to provide the basic knowledge of well control for surface and sub-sea installations at supervisor and driller levels to IWCF standards The course is designed to enhance understanding of the fundamentals applicable to various well control operations, and to prepare the participants for IWCF examinations.

COURSE OVERVIEW

WCS conducts 36 IWCF courses in a year. The course duration is five days. Course starts on Monday at 0930 hrs & finishes on Friday at 1630 hrs. For first three days extensive class room teaching is followed by practical sessions on full size derrick floor simulator. Assignment containing questions pertaining to day's curriculum are given and discussion on assignment is taken up in the next morning.

On fourth day a mock test is conducted which is an in-house test based on IWCF pattern. This is to access the performance of the participants and prepare them for the final test. Individual attention is given to the participants based on the results of the Mock test.

Day 1 Normal & Abnormal pressures, LOT, MAASP, Kick indicators, Top hole drilling, Line-up, Shut in procedures, Shut in pressures, Gas migration, Kick behaviour in OBM, Kick Sheet & Simulator practice
Day 2 Assignment discussion, Driller's , Wait & Weight and Volumetric methods of killing, Ram & Annular preventor, Stripping, Divertor, Sub-sea BOP, Testing of BOP stack & Simulator practice
Day 3 Assignment discussion, BOP Control Unit and trouble shooting, MGS, Vacuum degasser, Unusual situations in well control, Bull heading, Hydrate formation & Simulator practice
Day 4 Assignment discussion, Mock test & discussion, Simulator test
Day 5 Revision, IWCF Equipment exam, IWCF Principle & Procedure exam
IWCF EXAMINATION

IWCF Certification Program consists of two written exams and a simulator practical test. Participants have to score minimum of 70% in each of the tests to qualify for the IWCF certificate. Validity of the IWCF certificate is two years. If a participant fails in any one of the paper, he can re-sit in the failed paper within three calendar months. Three attempts are allowed for re-sit during this period. However if the candidate failed in one subject & secured 65 and above marks are allowed for instant re-sit on same day.

This fees excludes boarding, lodging and transportation charges. The fees is to be paid in the form of demand draft in favour of Manager (F&A), IDT, payable at Dehradun, India.

Candidates are required to carry their passport in original along with them during the Course.

IADC Course

IADC Course

WCS at IDT, Dehradun acquired IADC accreditation in June 1998 for conducting well control courses. The Well Control Accreditation Program (Well CAP) of IADC is based on the principle that proper training, emphasizing the knowledge & practical skills critical to successful well control, produces competent rig crews. Well CAP offers a blueprint for rig crew training by emphasizing the knowledge & skills critical to successful well control.

COURSE OVERVIEW

WCS conducts 12 IADC courses in a year. The course duration is five days. Course starts on Monday at 0930 hrs and finishes on Friday at 1630 hrs. For first four days there is extensive class room teaching followed by practical sessions on full size derrick floor simulator. At the end of fourth day participants visit to a fully functional rig in the campus of the institute.

Assignment containing questions pertaining to day's curriculum are given to the participants & discussion on assignment is taken up the next morning.

IADC EXAMINATION

IADC Certification program consists of a written exam and the simulator practical test, conducted on the last day of the course. A participant has to score minimum of 70% in both to qualify for the IADC certificate. Validity of the IADC certificate is two years.

IADC Course Fee - US $ 1300 or INR 65000.00
Resit Charges - US $ 300 or INR 15000.00 (per paper)

This fees excludes boarding, lodging and transportation charges. The participants working outside India have to pay the fees in US Dollars where as those working in India can pay in equivalent Indian Rupees. The fees is to be paid in the form of demand draft in favour of Manager (F&A), IDT, payable at Dehradun, India.

IWCF - WIP Course

IWCF WELL INTERVENTION PRESSURE CONTROL COURSE (IWCF-WIP)

IWCFWCS at IDT, Dehradun acquired IWCF-WIP accreditation in August 2006 for conducting well control courses for well services personnel. This program is based on well control requirement during well servicing operations with exposed flow capable hydrocarbon bearing zones. It covers topics like standard procedures and principles during intervention with coil tubing, snubbing & wire-line operations.

IWCF EXAMINATION

IWCF-WIP Certification Program consists of two compulsory written exams along with atleast one optional paper. Participants have to score minimum of 70% in each of the tests to qualify for the IWCF certificate. Validity of the IWCF certificate is two years.

If a participant fails in any of the paper, he can re sit in the failed paper within two calendar months . Three attempts are allowed for re sit during this period.

Introductory Well control courses

IWCF Drilling Level 2 Well Control and IADC WellCAP Introductory Level

We have also introduced Introductory Rotary Drilling course for Derrick man and Floor man level which may directly contribute for detection or control of a well influx.

Please note that from 01 September, 2014, Introductory Well Control Certificate  is a prerequisite for candidates who are: i. obtaining IWCF certification for the first time, and ii. wishing to progress to Level 3.

Course Overview

Course Duration: 5 Days

The aim of this course is to provide a basic understanding of the features of drilling a well and the fundamental principles involved in maintaining well control.

Course delivery

The course is delivered through presentation of a series of interactive lectures supported by videos and animations, supplemented by a classroom assignments and further self-study exercises.

Successful completion of the course and examination will result in IWCF Level 2 certification which is valid for five years. F or IADC WellCAP Introductory Certificate, the validity is for ever.
