Make Way for Ambulance: ONGC supports campaign to save lives

Around 24,000 lives every year can be saved if we give way to an ambulance. With this motive, energy major Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) launched a three-day awareness campaign in the Indian capital New Delhi. The Energy Maharatna is collaborating with NGO Humanitarian Welfare and Research Foundation (HWRF), Mumbai for this ‘Make way for Ambulance’ campaign. The awareness drive during 21-23 August 2019 is a part of ONGC CSR initiative.
The drive will create awareness among the vehicle drivers to allow ambulances on a busy traffic route. The drivers should move to the left and drive slowly; the drivers can also break signals to make way for ambulances. This will enable the patients reach hospitals in emergencies.
During this campaign, ONGC and HWARF will distribute car tags, car cushions, T-shirts at traffic junctions to around two thousand vehicle drivers. These collaterals will have a message regarding the awareness drive. They will distribute these collaterals in six prominent places in Delhi viz. Vasant Kunj, Moti Bagh, Munirka, Fortis Hospital, Kishangarh and Vasant Vihar.
This awareness drive is being aired on radio FM Rainbow during 20-23 August. A special message from Director (HR) Dr. Alka Mittal will be aired on 23 August.
The campaign was inaugurated on 21 August 2019 by ONGC Director HR Dr. Alka Mittal in the presence of ACP Traffic, South East Delhi Ms Shipra Giri and ONGC ED-Chief CSR Mr SSC Parthiban at ONGC registered office at DUB, New Delhi.
Earlier, HWARF has successfully conducted a similar awareness drive in Mumbai. On the same lines, HWARF wanted to create the same impact in Delhi as well for which ONGC is supporting it.
The HWARF ONGC Collaboration
In 2015, HWARF, with the proactive support of ONGC, established a skill training center in Mumbai where they trained 150 students every year in computers. This was their first center to help common people to impart skills and make them market-ready.
Hence, when HWARF decided to launch this campaign in Delhi, Maharatna ONGC was their first preference for collaboration, said HWARF Trustee Mr Rakesh Kumar.
The CSR, HSE and sustainability teams of ONGC have been doing commendable work to raise awareness among people on vital environmental and social concerns.
