ONGC conferred as top buyer in Government e-Marketplace

Under the dynamic leadership of Director (T&FS), In-charge MM O P Singh, the collective efforts within the organization towards enhancing procurement through Government e-Marketplace (GeM) have shown its initial results with ONGC ranked among top buyers in CPSE Category.

As per the results of the first Bi-Annual award announced by GeM on 16 February 2021 through its social media platforms and website of GeM portal, ONGC has been conferred Gold-Medal status under CPSE category based on value of procurement. 

ONGC has been ranked 2nd among all the CPSEs in the country based on value of orders placed through GeM portal for the period w.e.f. 1 July 2020 to the date of publishing of award. There are more than 48000 buyers (across Central Government, State Government, CPSEs, etc.) registered in GeM and all the CPSEs are on-boarded as buyers in GeM.

This ranking is part of non-monetary Incentive Scheme from GeM to ensure that buyers and sellers are rewarded in various ways for their good and desirable behavior at the marketplace. There are various Individual categories of ranking taking into account multiple metrics including order value, order volume, number of distinct products, timely payment, etc.

The total procurement of goods and services by ONGC through GeM portal during the fiscal year 2020-21 stands at approximately Rs 205 Crores till date.  Compared to previous fiscal year, there has been increase of about 193% till date.  Based on the on-going tenders in GeM, procurement through GeM is expected to be further enhanced considerably by end of the fiscal year.

Director (T&FS) – In-charge MM congratulated all the stakeholders. He advised to keep continuing the good work so that targeted procurement through GeM for the current fiscal year can be met. He also applauded the efforts of implementation team under ED-Chief MM A P Tripathi for steering the procurement through GeM by all the work centers.
