Oil and Gas PSUs sponsor song to promote vaccination program
The Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Housing & Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri and the Minister of Health & Family Affairs and Chemicals & Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya launched an audio-visual song, sponsored by Oil and Gas PSUs, to promote vaccination against COVID-19 on 16 October 2021. The song called ‘Bharat Ka Tikakaran’ was produced by musician Padma Shri Kailash Kher. The event was graced by the presence of Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameswar Teli, Petroleum Secretary Tarun Kapoor and officials of oil and gas PSUs. ONGC Director (HR) Dr Alka Mittal and several executives of the Energy Maharatna also attended the event.

Launching the song, Mr Puri said that the song will be key in addressing the vaccination hesitancy and encourage people to get vaccinated. He said that vaccination has become a ‘Jan Andolan’ and thwarted rumor mongering. Lauding Music Producer Kailash Kher for making the song on vaccination, he said that the singer has been an inspiration for him. Mr Puri expressed happiness while noting that India is reaching the milestone of administering 100 crore vaccine doses.

The Petroleum Minister said that when the lockdown was first implemented, he was the Minister of Civil Aviation and extended all support to help the nation in its fight against the pandemic. “We brought 1,500 tons of medical equipment from abroad and supplied 900 tons within India. We carried out ‘Vande Bharat Mission’ for repatriation of Indians stranded abroad due to COVID-19 and successfully brought back over 80 lakh people.”
“All estimations of the number of cases that might come up during the second wave failed. But we received support from all corners of India, be it healthcare workers, PSU, private players, etc and we braved through the challenges,” he said adding that under the leadership of Prime Minister and stewardship of Health Minister, India is now much more capable of dealing with any future crisis, thanks to the healthcare infrastructure developed in the past few years. He underlined that hundreds of oxygen plants have been installed across the nation, of which around 100 plants have been set up with the help of Oil and Gas PSUs.

Speaking on the occasion, Health Minister said that the Prime Minister effectively enabled the nation in combat against the pandemic. The Prime Minister first called for ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’, trusting our researchers enabling India to vaccinate its citizens with India-researched vaccines on par with the rest of the world. “Usually, something developed outside used to take up to four-five years to come to India. But the Prime Minister fast-tracked the process. Now, with the call for ‘Sabka Vishwas’, we are collectively braving through the logistical challenges and are close to administering 100 crore vaccines.

MoS Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameswar Teli said that combating the second wave of COVID-19 was a huge challenge, but we have risen victorious. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have administer nearly 100 crore people. The tireless efforts of healthcare workers, who are reaching out to people across the country and vaccinating then, is appreciable.” He expressed confidence that this song will encourage the people to take the vaccine. Mr Teli also assured all that the Petroleum and Natural Gas fraternity is ready to help the nation in its fight against COVID-19 pandemic in any way possible.

Petroleum Secretary Tarun Kapoor also lauded the healthcare workers across the nation for fighting against the pandemic and increasing the vaccine coverage every day. “The way everyone fought against COVID-19 pandemic under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is appreciable. We can confidently say we have controlled the situation. India has much less cases when compared to other countries.” He said that vaccination will play a vital role in the long-term fight against COVID-19. Noting the importance of reaching out to the people and address their concerns in an effective manner, Mr Kapoor said that this audio-visual song will further fuel the vaccination drive across the country.

The producer of the song, Padma Shri Kailash Kher, was also present on the occasion. Speaking about the song, Mr Kher noted that vaccine hesitancy and rumors are still preventing a considerable amount of the population from getting vaccinated. He said that through this song, he aims to address those concerns and encourage people to get vaccinated. “I am not in music just for entertainment. Under the clarion call of the Prime Minister to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone is making their contribution. This is my contribution through music.”

He said that when even developed countries are struggling with the pandemic, under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have spread safety net over the people of the nation with the vaccination program. He also thanked the Ministers and Oil and Gas fraternity for roping him in for this project for nation’s welfare.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Federation of Petroleum Industry (FIPI) Director General RK Malhotra. “This song with help in spreading the ‘Jan Andolan’ to more and more people. As the vaccination coverage increases, the number of cases are decreasing as well.” This song encapsulates in itself the efforts of all the stakeholders who have committed towards helping the nation through this crisis, he said.
