A ONGC cyclothon was  organized by ONGC on 3 November 2018 at New Delhi  to spread the message of Vigilance Awareness Week 2018. Around 250 senior bureaucrats and ONGCians inlcuding the Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) Mr. K V Chowdary, ONGC CMD Mr. Shashi Shanker, Directors and CVO participated in the 6.5 kilometer stretch cyclothon from India Gate (Amar Jawan Jyoti) to Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium gate number 13.

The cyclothon was flagged off at 0800 am by the Central Vigilance Commissioner Mr. K V Chowdary, assisted by Secretary DoPT Mr. C Chandramouli, and ONGC CMD Mr. Shashi Shanker. The theme of this year's Vigilance Awareness Week is ‘Eradicate Corruption: Build a New India’.

Speaking just before the flag off, Central Vigilance Commissioner Mr. K V Chowdary said, “We appreciate the initiative and efforts by ONGC to organize such thoughtful events, which are not only good for the health of the fellow citizens but also help to spread out the message of eradicating corruption. We urge everyone to contribute to making a new India by whatever little efforts they can put in and to spread out the message.”

Thanking the CVC, participants and the ONGC team, ONGC CMD Mr. Shashi Shanker said, “It is a pleasure to see such good participation and enthusiasm for the event. We hope that the message of integrity reaches out to each and everyone. ONGC is determined to work for such noble causes and we shall take further initiatives to make a new India, a better India".

The event was graced by the presence of ONGC Director (Offshore) Mr. Rajesh Kakkar, Director (Finance) Mr. Subhash Kumar, Director (T&FS) Mr. N C Pandey, OSD (HR) Dr. Alka Mittal and CVO Mr. R C Joshi, along with a number of senior bureaucrats from the various Ministries of the government.

The ONGC Cyclothon was organized by the collective effort of Corporate Vigilance, Corporate Communications and Coordination. The Cycle Federation of India (CFI) was roped in as the Technical Partner to organize the event professionally.
