ONGC Green Limited (OGL)

Formation & Vision

ONGC Green Limited (OGL) was incorporated on 27 Feb 2024 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of ONGC with mission to achieve 10 GW renewable energy (RE) capacity by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2038. OGL began business operation on 12 April 2024 to actualise these goals with a mix of greenfield projects and brownfield acquisitions as its strategy.

Joint Venture: ONGC NTPC Green Pvt Ltd, a 50:50 JV between OGL and NTPC Green Energy Ltd, incorporated on 18 Nov 2024.

Key Strategic Acquisitions

PTC Energy Ltd. (now OGL One Ltd.): 100% equity stake. It has total 288.8 MW of Wind Power Plants spread across three Indian states of Madya Pradesh, Karnataka, Andra Pradesh.

Ayana Renewable Power Pvt Ltd (via ONGPL JV): 100% equity stake It has total ~4.1 GW Wind + Solar plants Pan-India.

Greenfield Projects

OGL is preparing to bid in REIA-sponsored tenders, Solar + Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project.

Biofuels

OGL is exploring and engaging with industry players to set up CBG plants through JV route.

Impact on ONGC’s RE Capacity

OGL added 2.345 GW (operating + under construction) of renewable energy capacity to ONGC groups portfolio, bringing its total RE capacity  to 3.563 GW and progress is well aligned with ONGC’s 2030 and 2038 sustainability targets.
