ONGC makes it again to The Newsweek Green Ranking, the world’s most recognized assessments of corporate environmental performance. Ranked 217 ONGC stands third amongst only seven Indian companies making to the prestigious list.
For most valued corporate ONGC, this marks a quantum jump from previous ranking of 386 (Green Ranking 2012) reaffirming its commitment towards responsible business ethics interwoven with maximizing efforts for the sustainable growth.
This follows closely the recent global recognitions for ONGC, making it to Most Admired Companies list of the Fortune and rising two ranks over previous listing amongst global energy companies in Forbes 2000.
‘The Green Rankings comprehensively assess the environmental performance of the largest publicly traded companies in the United States and around the world. Published annually since 2009, this project is the first effort by a major media organization to rank companies based on their actual environmental footprint, management of that footprint, and sustainability communications. The rankings provide a reliable, cross-industry framework for comparing the environmental commitment and performance of major companies.’
In partnership with Corporate Knights Capital and leading sustainability minds from nongovernmental organizations and the academic and accounting communities, Newsweek ranks the world’s largest companies on corporate sustainability and environmental impact. The majority of the data used in the 2014 Newsweek Green Rankings was pulled from Bloomberg’s Professional Service, which includes sustainability information on over 5,000 public securities and the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).
Other Indian companies appearing on the list are Reliance (185), TCS(212), Infosys(299), ITC(368), HDFC(380), Coal India(445)
