Mr. Arun Malhotra receiving the award from Hon'ble Chief Minister of J&K Mr Omar Abdullah; (Also present) Minister of Health, Education and Sports Mr Taj Mohi-ud-din Mr. Arun Malhotra has been conferred Chief Minister’s Award by the government of Jammu and Kashmir on April 16, 2013 at Jammu for his contributions to the game of football. The award was handed over to Mr Malhotra, a native of J&K by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of J&K Mr Omar Abdullah in presence of minister of health, education and sports Mr Taj Mohi-ud-din and dignitaries of the state. The award carries a medal, a citation and cash prize of Rs 50,000/-. Last year, Mr Malhotra was also awarded the state award ‘sportsman of the year’ by the Hon’ble Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Mr N N Vohra. Before joining ONGC, Mr. Arun Malhotra has played for top notch football clubs of the country like Air India, Mahindra United and Kingfisher East Bengal Club for many years and won some of the India’s top football tournaments like the National Football League, Durand Cup, Federation Cup and IFA Shield. He has also been part of the victorious Indian team which played in President Cup-Maldives and IG Cup- Vietnam and won silver medal at the Afro-Asian Games held at Hyderabad, India apart from tournaments like Independence Cup -Nepal, Thailand and Malaysia Invitational Tournaments, Asian Club Championship in Oman, Syria, Yemen, Singapore and Brunei. He was also part of the Indian team for England Invitation Tour, Asia Cup held in North Korea and pre-Olympics play-off held in Turkmenistan. He joined ONGC on January 27, 2004 under sports quota and represented the company in various PSPB, Public Sector and other national tournaments. Currently Mr. Malhotra is working as Chemist at the Frontier Basin.
