WCS at IDT, Dehradun acquired IWCF accreditation in July 1997 for conducting well control courses for drilling personnel. This course aims to provide the basic knowledge of well control for surface and sub-sea installations at supervisor and driller levels to IWCF standards. The course is designed to enhance understanding of the fundamentals applicable to various well control operations, and to prepare the participants for IWCF examinations.

COURSE OVERVIEW
The course duration is five days. Course starts on Monday at 0930 hrs and finishes on Friday at 1730 hrs. For first three days extensive class room teaching is followed by practical sessions on full size derrick floor simulator. Assignment containing questions pertaining to day's curriculum are given and discussion on assignment is taken up in the next morning.
On fourth day a mock test is conducted which is an in-house test based on IWCF pattern. This is to access the performance of the participants and prepare them for the final test. Individual attention is given to the participants based on the results of the Mock test.

IWCF EXAMINATION
To be eligible for certification, candidates must successfully pass two assessments: an online examination and a simulator-based practical test. The online examination is conducted under the strict invigilation of an IWCF examiner. A minimum score of 70% is required in each test to qualify for the prestigious IWCF certificate, which remains valid for two years.
In case a participant fails in any one paper, they are allowed to re-sit for the failed paper within a period of 90 days, with a maximum of two attempts during this timeframe. However, if a candidate fails in two or more papers, they must re-enroll and attend the course as a fresh candidate to regain eligibility for certification.
