The Academy is actively undertaking new initiatives with a clear vision to evolve into a comprehensive training institute and Centre of Excellence. Accordingly, our training programmes are designed to equip participants with the skills, knowledge, competence, and expertise that meet the highest industry standards.

Introduction

ONGC Academy serves as the nerve centre for driving human resource development initiatives within the organization. It provides comprehensive training across technical and managerial domains relevant to the upstream petroleum industry and remains committed to excellence in fostering human capital.

ONGC Academy is dedicated to fostering excellence by enhancing knowledge, skills, and attitudes. The Academy focuses on developing technical, managerial, and soft skills through high-quality training and accredited courses. These programs are delivered by world-renowned faculty and institutions, both in-house and external.

ONGC has branded its training initiatives under the ‘EXPONENT’ program, aimed at developing the energy leaders of tomorrow. This program is supported by the ONGC Academy, Skill Development Institutes (SDCs), and global partnerships with renowned trainers. Training is designed with input from in-house experts, top Indian academic institutions, to meet both current and future industry needs. An online annual Training Needs Identification (TNI) exercise is conducted across various work centers to tailor the training calendar to the evolving demands of the oil industry.

Academy Performance – 2024-25

During FY – 2024-25, ONGC Academy has organised 157 training programs with the focus to equip emerging workforce with the essential skills, knowledge, and experience needed in line functions as well as managerial aspects. A total of 7255 executives were imparted training with 18525 training mandays during the year.

Special emphasis was placed on training programs for SC/ST/OBC and women employees, resulting in a significant increase in participation from these categories

Functional Trainings

ONGC Academy organizes specialized functional training programs across core disciplines, including Exploration, Engineering, and Production. The Academy offers courses in Petroleum Geology, Exploration Geophysics, Reservoir Engineering, Oil Field Chemistry, and more. It also provides training in areas such as Wellsite Geological Operations, Basic concepts of Seismic Data Processing, Pipeline Integration Management, Well Logging Techniques, Flow Assurance etc. Additionally, the Academy conducts refresher courses and programs on emerging technologies, bridging knowledge gaps by collaborating with global domain experts to stay ahead of industry trends.

During the year, ONGC Academy organized 40 Functional Training Programs with the participation of 1571 Executives.

Emergency Management Programs

The course was designed to prepare offshore personnel to effectively handle emergency situations. What sets the program apart is its immersive pedagogy, which includes realistic simulations of offshore emergencies, enabling participants to develop optimal response strategies. The program is delivered in an experiential format by seasoned offshore professionals with extensive backgrounds in production and drilling operations. A total of 10 Offshore Emergency Management Programs were successfully conducted.

Management Programs

To equip senior managers with the skills to navigate the evolving challenges of the E&P industry, it is essential to continuously expose them to the latest management practices. To this end, ONGC Academy offers specialized training modules covering various management aspects like Senior Leaders Programs, Project Management Essential, Frontline Leaders Programs etc. The Academy has designed a series of tailored management development programs, customized for executives at each level.

During the year, ONGC Academy organized 93 Management Development Programs with the participation of 4463 executives.

Graduate Trainees Induction Programs

The primary objective of the Induction Training for graduate trainees is to acquaint them with various facets of Exploration and Production (E&P) operations, while fostering an understanding of the organization's culture. The program also aims to nurture interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset through a range of multidisciplinary training modules, including General Theoretical Training, Multi-Disciplinary Field Familiarization, Specialized Training, and On-the-Job Training. Emphasizing holistic development, the Academy integrates yoga and sports as essential components of the Induction Training curriculum.

Two batches of Graduate Trainees participated in Induction Training Programs conducted in contact mode at ONGC Academy - from April 1 to 26, 2024, and November 4 to 28, 2024 - covering a total of 173 GTs.

Sponsored Programs

Executives were also sponsored to attend a variety of specialized training programs, workshops, seminars, and conferences, both within India and internationally, organized by reputed institutes and agencies. A total of 1,385 executives participated in 162 such programs. Of these, 70 executives were sponsored for 16 programs held abroad.

Scientific & Technical Papers

During 2024–25, 108 scientific and technical papers were evaluated by the respective domain experts. These papers were presented and published at both national and international forums.

Internship Program

The Academy coordinates summer and winter internship programs for students from various academic institutions and universities. In the 2024-25 period, ONGC Academy organized summer and winter training for over 820 students from multiple universities and institutions."

Plantation Drive

As part of the #plant4mother / #एक_पेड़_माँ_के_नाम initiative, ONGC Academy successfully organized two plantation drives, one at Tapkeshwar Mandir, Dehradun on July 20, 2024 and 2nd at Academy Campus on July 27, 2024 planted more than 400 different types of plants by Academy employees along with their family members during rainy season.

Run / Walkathon

Organizing a run / walkathon can be a fantastic way to promote fitness, ONGC Academy has organised a 5 KMs Run / Walkathon on 13th September, 2024 within the Office Campus with more than 300 enthusiastic employees.
