Dr. Abhimanyu Singh, an Orthopedician MS, Mch (Ortho) in ONGC hospital, Dehradun has qualified from India for the prestigious PARIS BREST PARIS Ultra Cycling. He will represent India in the event. It is a quadrennial event which is about to be held in France from 18-22 August 2019. He is a passionate cyclist and has done many long cycling events like Manali-Leh, Leh-Khardungla-Leh, Full Super Randonneur Series.

Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP) is a 1,200 km ultra-cycling event, organized by Audax Club Parisien which started in 1891 as a race. In 1951 a cut-off time was introduced. The new regulations have now put a solo rider to finish PBP in 90 hours. This year, the self-supported ride will start from Paris on 18 August and riders will touch the 600 km halfway mark at the harbor town of Brest, the western edge of continental Europe, before returning to the French capital. To take part in it, a rider has to qualify after finishing a 1,000 km or more Brevet des Randonneurs Mondiaux (BRM) the previous year, and a Super Randonneur (finishing all 200 km, 300 km, 400 km and 600 km) tag in the PBP year.

There will be around 6000 cyclist from all over the world in this event. Last event in 2015, there were 56 qualifiers from India from which only 20 were able to complete this event.
