After rigorous scouting and days of selection, ONGC has selected six athletes from Uttrakhand under its initiative 'Himalaya mein heeron ki khoj'.This is an initiative to unearth athletic talent in the 800m and 1500m track events.

ONGC Director (HR) Mr. DD Misra senior executives felicitated the selected athletes via web conference.

Inhabitants in Himalayan regions develop higher levels of stamina & endurance. With Headquarters at Dehradun, ONGC chose Uttarakhand to scout talent.Under this initiative talent scouting events were conducted in all 13 districts of Uttarakhand from 8 to 28 July 2017. At the end of the district trials, 78 athletes were shortlisted for a State Camp which was held in Dehradun from 25-27 July 2017.

The finals were held on the 28 July 2017 at the Maharana Pratap Sports College, where finally six athletes were selected.The six selected athletes are.

  • Radha (Mussoorie)
  • Harshdeep (Udham Singh Nagar)-800m
  • Sandhya (Dehradun)
  • Bhawna (Pithorgarh)
  • Bharat (Haridwar)- 1500m
  • Sunil Kumar (Haridwar)- 1500m
