The minister also interacted with the representatives of participating companies in the India Pavilion. He said that the Government of India is going to be stepping on the accelerator in terms of exploration and production in a very big way. “Out of the total 3.5 million sq. km of area that we have; earlier we used to only explore something like 7-8 per cent. But we are now taking this 0.2 million sq. kms, which is 8 per cent, up to 0.5 million sq. kms, which is 15 per cent by 2025. Now 15 per cent by 2025 means massive additional areas to be under E&P. It means that apart from the area under E&P being subjected to massive increase, we have gas pipeline that is going to increase to 34,000 kms,” he said. Mr Puri noted this means USD 60 billion investment in gas pipeline, infrastructural loan, increasing refining capacity massively from 250 to 400 MMT per annum by 2030 and gas mix from around 6 per cent to 15 per cent. “Events like this provides great opportunity to our professionals to interact with professionals globally. I am sure the next two or three days will be very fruitful,” he noted.
