The 41st National Masters Meet was held at the Khuman Lampak stadium, Imphal which was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Imphal Mr Nongthombam Biren Singh on 9th February, 2020, in presence of World Masters President MAFI, Secretary MAFI, besides President/Secretary of Indian MAFI.

Health, Sports and athletics have been an integral part of ONGC for years. Keeping this in fray, ONGC has been at the forefront of promoting sports and takes this endeavour as major social responsibility towards the nation.

Keeping in the same commitment towards promoting the culture for sports and health within the organization, Inter-sector Athletics Meet were organized at Baroda and the Gold/Silver medallists were selected to represent ONGC in the 41st National Masters Athletics Meet at Imphal from 9-14 February, 2020 under the aegis of Masters Athletics Federation of India (MAFI).

This annual event, which is popular amongst the Athletes above 35 years of age, witnessed an active participation of over 4000 athletes from various States. The Masters Meet included all the events in track and field categories in Men and Women section in age group wise – such as 35-40 years, 40-45 years, 45-50 years and so on till 100+ category.

This National Meet provided an apt opportunity to ONGC athletics team to closely interact with each other and also share/learn from the experiences of veterans/other athletes and try to improve their physical/mental strength.

Urging all the participants to give their best, Head Sports opined that sports is not only about winning, but also about learning from the failures, work hard and excel next time. Same principles also applies in our day-to-day professional lives, he emphasized.

ONGC athletes participated in various field and track events and bagged total 19 medals in different events. On overall medal tally, ONGC finished 13th with a meagre contingent of 28 ONGCians, ahead of big states like Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and many more.

The enthusiastic ONGCians showed their ‘sporty’ shade by witnessing the events, supporting and cheering theirs teammates enthusiastically. All the players expressed their extreme satisfaction with the arrangements and thanked ONGC management for making ONGC’s appearance in this Mega Event.
