To generate awareness on gender sensitization and prevention of harassment at workplace, ONGC Director (HR) Dr Alka Mittal on 29 January 2020 launched the POSH webpage and e-Book. The Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) webpage and e-Book has been designed by the collaborative efforts of team Director (HR), Corporate D&A, Corporate Legal and Corporate Communications of ONGC and is featured on ONGC internal employee portal.

Lauding the initiative, Director (HR) noted that the new webpage is another step taken by the Energy Major towards inclusiveness at its workplace. Stating that information from various sources can be misinterpreted, Dr Alka Mittal said, “Now we have a proper system from where we can avail all information regarding POSH from a single source.”

Director (HR) said that the content of the webpage seems to be comprehensive and can be further enhanced over time by adding visuals and video clips on POSH awareness. She sought suggestions from the Key Executives to add value to current content.

Some of the salient features of the POSH webpage include:

  • Policy on Sexual Harassment
  • e-Book
  • Gender Sensitization
  • Act/Rules
  • Handbook on Sexual Harassment
  • POSH - Case Studies
  • List of ICC members
  • POSH – Templates

Dr Mittal said that the e-book will help bring more clarity and uniformity to the Internal Complaints Committees (ICC) while handling complaints.  She exhorted that maintenance of confidentiality should always be kept on mind and the Controlling Officers and the ICC should take responsibility of the same.

Director (HR) observed that the key objective of the initiative is not only prevention but sensitization too. She suggested that awareness programs on POSH should be conducted sector-wise across all work centers of ONGC on a regular basis to enable better sensitization and understanding towards ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for all in ONGC.
