To commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India, the Constitution Day (Samvidhan Divas) was observed across all work centers of Energy Major Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) with utmost zeal and fervor on 26 November 2019. ONGCians at various work centers read out the Preamble (उद्देशिका) in Hindi, English and other regional languages.

At DUB New Delhi, Director (Onshore) Mr Sanjay Kumar Moitra read out the preamble in Hindi, followed by English. The program was graced by the presence of ONGC Director (T&FS) Mr Navin Chandra Pandey and ONGC Videsh Director (Exploration) Mr G S Chaturvedi, Director (Finance) Mr Vivekanand and Director (Operations) Mr AK Gupta. Key executives and senior officers of ONGC and ONGC Videsh Limited also attended the observance of the Constitution Day in Delhi.

ONGC Dehradun organized the Constitution Day program along with AISC/STEWA Dehradun, to promote constitutional values among the citizens. ED-Head ONGC Academy Mr Manoj Barthwal read out the Preamble in Hindi and English. A walkathon was organized from community center to Tel Bhavan. It was flagged off by ED- Head ONGC Academy Mr Manoj Barthwal. A large number of school children and ONGcians participated with great enthusiasm in walkathon. After the culmination of walkathon, all dignitaries and ONGcians paid tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar by garlanding his statue at Tel Bhavan.

ONGC Chennai celebrated the solemn day with, ONGCians renewing the pledge to uphold the values of Democracy and Equality and mark the 70th anniversary of adoption of the Indian Constitution. CGM-Basin Manager (Officiating) Cauvery Mr M K Sharma, CGM-Basin Manager (Officiating) KG-PG Ms K G Vijayalakshmi, GGM-Head HR-ER Chennai Mr N Mani read out the Preamble of the Constitution in Hindi, English and Tamil respectively.

MBA Basin also joined the nation in celebrating the Constitution Day. The event witnessed spontaneous participation from all sections. The program began with Officiating Incharge HR-ER Mr AK Baxla briefing ONGCians about the historical significance of this day. He reminded the gathering that the Constitution was the result of the great vision of our founding forefathers and it is the duty of every Indian to uphold its sanctity. Head Engineering Services Dr Anupam Kumar and CGM (Production) Mr Dalip Kumar led the House in reading The Preamble to the Constitution in English and Hindi respectively.

The Constitution Day was also observed by ONGCians at the offshore platforms on the Arabian Sea, around 200 Kms away from the coastline of Mumbai.

Samvidhan Divas or Constitution Day is celebrated every year on 26 November to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. The Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India on 26 November 1949 and it came into effect on 26 January 1950. However, the Government declared 26 November as Constitution Day in 2015, on 125th the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar. Dr BR Ambedkar chaired the drafting committee of the Constituent Assembly and played a pivotal role in the drafting of the constitution.
