Seven Central  Oil PSUs viz. ONGC, IOC, BPCL, HPCL, GAIL, OIL and NRL, under the  administrative control of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas have  contributed Rs 15 crores to the Flood Relief Fund of the Hon’ble Chief Minister  of Assam to aid the flood affected people of the State.

A cheque of Rs. 15 crores was handed over to Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble  Chief Minister of Assam by the representatives of Oil companies led by ONGC Director (HR) Shri D D Misra at the CM’s Office in Guwahati today.

This  is an initiative taken by the Central Oil PSUs under the leadership of Shri  Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India.

As  responsible corporate citizens, this is a token gesture by the companies to  lend a helping hand to the State machinery in dealing with the magnitude of  destruction and damage caused by the recent floods which has resulted in large  scale loss of lives and property and displacement of lakhs of people from their  homes.

The Chief Minister highly appreciated and thanked all the oil PSUs for extending  their helping hand to the flood affected people of Assam. He also suggested the  Oil PSUs to work in an integrated way for the development of Assam and North  East.
