ONGC has featured among the public  enterprises with the best financial performance. Various financial parameters  like Net profit, Dividends paid, Market Capitalization, Investments made were  considered as the criteria to rank the CPSEs.

ONGC-The Star Performer

The recent Public Enterprises Survey  (2015-16), brought out by the Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of  Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, on the performance of Central Public  Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), was placed on both houses of the Parliament on 21  March 2017.

There were 320 CPSEs in 2015-16, out of which  244 were in operation. Whereas the total (overall) Net profit of the CPSES  increased from 1,02,866 crore in 2014-15 to Rs. 1,15,767 crore in 2015-16 ( a  growth of 12.54 per cent), the total Market Capitalization (of the 46 CPSEs  traded on BSE) decreased 16.62 per cent from Rs. 13,27,393 crore on 31 March  2015 to Rs. 11,06,766 crore on 31 March 2016.
