Energy major ONGC has improved its Platts 250 Global Energy Rankings by 4 notches in 2015. As per the coveted Platts ranking released recently, the Indian Energy Maharatna is placed 17th among the global energy majors. ONGC has also maintained its Third position globally in the industry category "Oil and Gas Exploration and Production"

There has been a sustained improvement in ONGC global rank. ONGC was positioned at 21st in 2014 and 22nd in 2013.

Overall, ONGC is the 7th in the Asia Pacific (APAC) Region, marginally down from 5th in 2014.

The Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings recognize outstanding accomplishments of the top performing energy companies around the world. The annual survey of global energy companies by Platts measures the financial performance using four key metrics: asset worth, revenues, profits and return on invested capital. All companies on the list have assets greater than US $5 billion. The fundamental and market data comes from a database compiled and maintained by S&P Capital IQ.
