Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has contributed one crore rupees to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, as a supporting contribution of the oil major to the north-eastern state reeling under recent floods.

ONGC CMD Mr. Sudhir Vasudeva handed over the cheque of 1 crore rupees to Resident Commissioner of Assam Mr. Himangshu Shekhar Das in New Delhi on 13th July 2012. A number of issues of mutual interest were discussed in the brief meeting.

ONGC has been operating in Assam for over five decades and is actively engaged in socio-economic development of its stakeholders there. Various projects have been taken up under ONGC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, one of them being protection of the endangered Eastern Swamp Deer in the Kaziranga National Park in Upper Assam, now threatened by floods. ONGC’s operations in Assam have not been affected.
