Forbes, a leading international  business journal, has published its much awaited Global 2000 list of the world’s  biggest public companies for 2014.

ONGC is ranked at 176th among 2000 top global companies. In  the global oil and gas operation industry, ONGC has moved up two places to 21st.  ONGC is third among 54 Indian companies which made it to the list.

Forbes Global 2000, this year, is dominated by US, Japanese  and Chinese companies.

Forbes compiles the Global 2000 list using data from FactSet  Research systems to screen for the biggest public companies in four metric:  sales, profits, assets and market value. A comprehensive analysis of each of  the metrics is used to arrive at the scores to enable a company to find place  among 2000.
