BilliardsGold Medalist Dhruv Sitwal (centre), Silver Medalist Pankaj Advani (Right) & Bronze Medalist Soaurav Kothari (left)The triumvirate of ONGCians - Dhruv Sitwala, Pankaj Advani and Sourav Kothari, set the green baize blazing with unprecedented display of Billiards and bagged all the three medals at the Asian Billiards Championship held in Beijing, China from 7-13 April 2015.

In keenly contested semifinals, while Pankaj Advani got better of Sourav Kothari by 5-3, Dhruv thwarted the challenge of former world Champion C. Praprut of Thailand 5-4.

In the finals it was Dhruv who took an astounding lead of 5-1 in a best of 11 finals. Pankaj came back strongly to reduce the gap to 3-5 and when all set to make a nightmare for Dhruv while at 98 just 2 points  short of the game, missed a regulation shot. But hats off to Dhruv who picked up the challenge from there and displaying a now or never attitude crafted a magnificent break of 102 with surgical precision to win the game and the match 6-3 and crowned himself as the new king of Asian Billiards.

Another unique record was set at this event from ONGC’s point of view. In 2015, with Dhruv winning the coveted championship, each member of ONGC Billiards Team has entered the ‘Asian Hall of Fame’. The list is given below:

2011 Kish Island, Iran  Alok Kumar
2012 Goa, India  Pankaj Advani
2013 Indore, India   Rupesh Shah
2014 Chandigarh, India Sourav Kothari
2015 Beijing, China   Dhruv Sitwala

Kudos to the ONGC Billiards Team !!
