ONGC wins Sportstar Aces Award 2023 under ‘Best PSU for Promotion of Sports’ category
The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) on 27 February 2023 won the Sportstar Aces Award under the Best PSU for Promotion of Sports category at the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai.
The state-owned energy giant has been committed to promoting sports and sponsors both national and international events. Building infrastructure, training players in the country and abroad, providing necessary kits and providing scholarship support and sponsorship to the young and upcoming talented sports persons are an integral part of ONGC's sports credo.
Several ONGCians have been representing the country in Cricket, Chess, Table Tennis, Athletics, Badminton, Volleyball, Hockey, Lawn Tennis, Football and Shooting, amongst other sports.
Besides employing sports personalities across a number of disciplines, ONGC also offers sports scholarships of Rs 15,000 and Rs 30,000 to athletes of merit. ONGC spends around Rs 60 crores annually for the promotion of sports.
The promotion of sports culture within and outside the organization aims at bringing excellence by tapping latent talent and developing human capital for success and competitive advantage.
