ONGC bags Golden Peacock Environment Management Award for second consecutive year

In another major recognition towards ONGC’s corporate commitment towards maintaining a healthy and sustainable environment, the Energy Maharatna has been conferred with the prestigious Golden Peacock Environment Management Award 2020. This is the second consecutive year that ONGC has bagged the Golden Peacock Award in this particular category.
Due to the pandemic scenario, and restrictions over organizing physical ceremonies, this year, the Golden Peacock Award Winners will be recognized through a special Virtual Presentation ceremony, to be organized during last week of November 2020. CMD Mr Shashi Shanker has been invited as a Distinguished Guest at the virtual ceremony and to deliver an acceptance speech.
The Golden Peacock Awards were instituted by the Institute of Directors (IOD) in 1991 and are now regarded as a benchmark of Corporate Excellence worldwide, aiming at recognizing the achievements of the best performing organizations. The awards are declared under the Chairmanship of former Chief Justice of Supreme Court Justice M N Venkatachaliah and Co-chairmanship of former Judge, Supreme Court of India and former Chairman, Competition Appellate Tribunal & Authority for Advance Ruling (Customs, Central Excise & Service Tax) Justice Dr Arijit Pasayat.
Under the Awards 2nd cycle for 2020, as many as 496 responses were received by the Secretariat for four categories and 235 applications were shortlisted for final selection through a three-tier assessment process. The applications were assessed by an Assessment Group comprising of Environment, Health & Safety, Energy and Climate Change experts and were later discussed by the committee for normalization of assessment/review.
