INTRODUCTION

ONGC has established four Regional Training Institutes (RTIs) to focus on the Training & Development needs of its employees across the sectors. In April 2017, the RTIs were re-christened as Skill Development Centres (SDCs). The four SDCs located at Chennai, Mumbai, Sivasagar and Vadodara are the nodal agencies in their respective sectors for skilling, re-skilling and up-skilling of ONGC employees, through regular multidisciplinary training programs for ONGC executives and non-executives.

Recently, Office of Head Skill Development Centres, which also supervises work of all SDCs, has initiated collaborative knowledge sharing by way of allowing participants from other companies in training programmes organised by SDCs of ONGC, in lieu of participation fee.

The SDCs play an important role in the overall training and development plan of ONGC, as they are the main centre for providing skill development preferably to entire non-executive cadre of ONGC and junior level management - who are vital for execution of jobs at ground level. The SDCs are at the work locations – i.e. at close quarters of our operational areas, and hence, are well placed to provide timely learning interventions on various subjects, as per organisational needs.
