Yuki in action at the Asia-Oceania Australian Open Wild card play off ONGC’s Yuki Bhambri partnering Michael Venus of New Zealand secured a doubles wild card entry into the Australian Open (Grand Slam) by winning the doubles title in the Asia-Oceania Australian Open wild card play-off at the Luohu Tennis Centre, Shenzhen, China last week. The second-seeded Yuki and Venus, who had won a Challenger in July this year, beat the fourth-seeded Gong Miao-Xin and Li Zhe of China 7-6(3), 1-6, 10-5 in the doubles final. Earlier in the singles semi-final, Yuki went down fighting to Di Wu of China 7-6(6), 6-4 after having two set points in the tie-breaker. Yuki is set to participate in the Chennai Open ATP Tournament at Chennai in the first week of January 2014 prior to the Australian Open. ONGC wishes the youngster a grand success at both upcoming major events.
