Veteran athlete Mr. Pakinder Singh an ONGCian made the nation proud by winning a gold and a bronze medal in the recently held World Masters Championship in Perth (Australia).
The championship was organized from 25th October to 5th November 2016. Mr. Pakinder Singh representing India made the country proud by bagging Gold medal in the shot-put competition in the above 40 category out of the twenty participants representing their respective countries and bronze in discuss throw. The achievement of Mr. Pakinder was splashed across in the eminent local newspapers of Dehradun – Amar Ujala,Dainik Jagran and Hindustan.

Mr. Pakinder Singh is presently posted at the Sports Section, Tel Bhavan Dehradun, and had joined ONGC in the year 2000 . He belongs to Bhatinda Punjab and is a master in physical education. An ardent shot-put and discus thrower Mr. Pakinder for the last four years have been coaching and polishing the talents of wards of ONGCians of Dehradun in the two throwing sports – shot-put and discuss his favorite sports. A number of children under his able guidance have brought laurels in championships organized at district, state and national –junior and sub junior levels.
Mr. Pakinder has been bringing laurels in the past too- in 2010 he won two gold medals in the Asian Masters Athletics Championship Kualampur, Malaysia. In 2011 in the World Masters Athletics Championship in USA he won a silver medal in the shot-put throw. In 2012 in World Masters Championship in Finland he secured a bronze in shot-put. In 2012 once again in Master Athletic Championship- China Taipei he bagged two golds both in discuss and shot-put throws.After a gap of three years Mr. Singh in 2015 participated in World Masters Athletic Championship held at Leoni France and bagged a bronze medal in shot put.
