Reaffirming its deep rooted commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Digital Transformation initiatives, ONGC assisted Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) in setting up e-classrooms across the country. As a part of the program, nine Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV) in Odisha will now have access to state-of-the-art infrastructure for Digital Learning. The initiative is expected to benefit over 12,300 students.

On 14 September, e-classrooms were formally inaugurated by Union Minister, Petroleum and Natural Gas Mr Dharmendra Pradhan at Bhubaneswar. Bhubaneswar MP Ms Aparajita Sarangi, Rajya Sabha MP Mr Ashwini Vaishnav, Leader of Opposition-Odisha Legislative Assembly Mr Pradipta Kumar Nayak, Jatani MLA Mr Suresh Kumar Routray, GGM-Basin Manager MBA Basin Mr K R Durga Prasad and Deputy Commissioner-KVS Ms Indu Kaushik were also present among other senior dignitaries.

While addressing the gathering, Mr Dharmendra Pradhan exhorted students to take advantage of the smart classes and excel in their academic career. He also congratulated ONGC for completing the project in record time.

Deputy Commissioner-KVS Ms Indu Kaushik briefed the audience about the details of the project. She also appreciated the role of ONGC in supporting the cause.

A team comprising of CGM (MM) - CSR Mr D K Singh, I/C CSR MBA Basin Mr S Sengupta, Officiating Head-Bhubaneswar Office Dr P K Das, GM (Chem.) Ch. B. Misra and Senior HRE Mr S Mohapatra also attended the program.

A dip into figures

ONGC Corporate CSR has helped in setting up 384 e-classrooms in 23 Kendriya Vidyalayas across India. Out of these, 184 e-classrooms have been setup in nine KVs in Odisha. The other 200 e-classrooms have been set up in 14 ONGC supported KVs across various work centers of ONGC. The total financial support from ONGC has been Rs 8,33,66,400.

Project details

The project included procurement, delivery, installation and commissioning of Projectors, Web Streaming Devices and iPads. The procurement was done by KVS through e-bidding process on Government e-Marketplace portal.

KVS will also design the course content based on CBSE / NCERT syllabus. This project is expected to benefit 27,746 students from 23 KVs across India. The noble initiative of providing a digital learning environment to students, wherein they can quickly and easily understand concepts through the Audio-Visual medium, was appreciated by one and all.

While proposing the Vote of Thanks, Mr K R Durga Prasad thanked the Union Minister for his visionary leadership and guidance, not only in the efforts to make our nation energy-sufficient but also in the field of CSR.

He stated “Under the Minister’s guidance, ONGC has earned first position amongst all PSUs and overall second position in India in terms of CSR spending. It was indeed a great honor for the ONGC Board and the entire ONGC Family to be associated with the noble initiative.”

He further thanked ONGC Board for extending full support to the landmark initiative. He recalled how the project required detailed planning, bird’s eye view monitoring and immaculate implementation; and how the sustained efforts has finally borne fruit. He also thanked KVS for the effective implementation of the Smart Classrooms project across India.
