ONGC has won the Best Innovative Practices Award for Women at Workplace at the 2nd Gender Equality Summit organized by Global Compact Network India on the theme “Preparing Women for the Future of Work”, on 1 March 2019 at New Delhi.

ONGC Wins Awards for Best Innovative Practices for Women at Workplace

Global Compact Network India (GCNI) is a non-profit society, functioning as the Indian Local Network of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), New York. It acts as a country level platform for businesses, civil organisations, public and private sector, and aids in aligning stakeholders' responsible practices towards the Ten Universally Accepted Principles of UNGC.

With 34 other organizations vying for the coveted award, both public and private sector, ONGC won the trophy after competing through two stages of Evaluation – first, a written submission, and second, case-study presentation before an eminent Jury. The evaluation of the case-studies was done on the basis of an evaluation matrix comprising of five parameters viz., 1) Enabling environment, 2) Safety & security, 3) Diversity, 4) Facilities & 5) Capacity development.

The Jury who evaluated the winners for the ‘Case Study Competition’ were very appreciative of the exemplary work done by ONGC in taking the idea of Gender Equality: Goal No. 5 of UN Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) to commendable heights.

DGM (HR) Ms Divya Capoor shared about the prestigious award during International Women’s Day function at ONGC, Delhi, on 07 March 2019 which was attended by Secretary DPE Ms. Seema Bahuguna, Director (Onshore) Mr. S K Moitra, Director (HR) and Patron WDF Dr. Alka Mittal, Director (Exploration) ONGC Videsh Mr. G S Chaturvedi, ED-Chief Security Dr. Baljit Singh, IPS, and Chairperson WDF Ms. Pomila Jaspal. Ms Capoor informed that ONGC was recognized for its progressive initiatives for providing an enabling, encouraging & safe environment for women to perform at their workplace.

ONGC is focused on enhancing the gender mix in the organization, through various initiatives, which include developing women employees through various HR interventions, improving workplace policies & facilities for women employees, and building Brand ONGC as a woman friendly organization to attract more women to join the company.

Under the guidance of Director (HR) Dr Alka Mittal, the case study for ONGC was prepared and presented by DGM (HR) Ms Divya Capoor and Manager (HR) Ms Meghna Pegu.
