NWIS-R was conceptualized in MHSRD-IV Project for dual purpose - a) to revamp ageing water injection facility and b) for initiation of EOR project of “Low Saline Water Flooding” in selected area in Mumbai High South field. Project was awarded to M/S LTHE for implementation.  NWIS-R jacket and topside was installed by May 2021 and subsequently pre-commissioning and commissioning activity was started. The units are presently under final stages of commissioning.

On 17 March 2022, Director (Offshore) Pankaj Kumar, along with Asset Manager-MH Asset C Mathavan, visited the new Plant and performed auspicious rituals in the presence of senior officials. Director (Offshore) started MIP P-1210 at NWIS-R Platform in presence of ONGC and L&T team. With starting of one MIP, having design capacity of @580 m3/hr, water injection is resumed in SQ sector of BHS Platform. Low Saline Water Facility is scheduled to be commissioned by 20 April 2022 and will feed low saline water (8000 ppm) @ 1,25,000 bbls/day in 15 platforms of BHS and ICP sector.

Director (Offshore) congratulated team ONGC and L&T for successful commissioning of the plant. He emphasized on the synergy between ONGC and its business partner L&T as a single unit which resulted in overcoming all challenges during pre-commissioning stages. He suggested to look into the future process control scenario with bare minimum manpower having extensive surveillance system of the plant and advanced automated detection system.

Regarding equipment vibration monitoring, the Director laid emphasis on AI based predictive analytics system for reducing breakdown of critical equipment. He visited plant area and took keen interest in understanding Low Saline Water Flooding system being introduced for the first time as EOR Project in ONGC. He appreciated effort of Asset Manager MH Asset in leading the team from the front in successful implementation of the very challenging Project.

Before leaving for Mumbai, Director (Offshore) emphasized for timely completion of the remaining system at NWIS-R especially in commissioning of Low Saline facility.

Visit of Director (Offshore) boosted the morale of ONGC personnel on board and entire commissioning team at offshore and motivated them to complete the project as per schedule.
