Secretary Petroleum Pankaj Jain inaugurates India Pavilion at 24th World Petroleum Congress at Calgary, Canada

The India Pavilion at the 24th World Petroleum Congress (WPC) held in Calgary, Canada, was inaugurated by Pankaj Jain, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), Government of India, on 18 September 2023. Mr.  Jain was accompanied by Joint Secretary (IC), MoPNG, Esha Srivastava, Joint Secretary (Exploration & Bio-refinery), MoPNG, Sunil Kumar, ONGC Chairman & CEO Arun Kumar Singh, Engineers India Limited (EIL) CMD Vartika Shukla, Oil India Limited (OIL) CMD Ranjit Rath, ONGC Videsh–Managing Director Rajarshi Gupta, ONGC Director (Finance) Pomila Jaspal, ONGC Director (Exploration) Sushma Rawat, and Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI) DG Gurmeet Singh.

The India Pavilion has been set up to showcase the opportunities offered by the Indian petroleum industry to its global peers to invest in productive partnerships in India and abroad.

Four companies are participating in the India Pavilion. Petronet LNG (PLL) is participating apart from central Public Sector Enterprises ONGC, OIL, and EIL, under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, to showcase the opportunities in the Indian petroleum sector to the global energy industry.

After inaugurating the India pavilion, Mr. Jain went around the pavilion to take a closer look at the stalls of all the participating companies in the pavilion. He interacted with the individual companies, sharing the efforts to consolidate the evolving India story in the petroleum industry and take it forward with a collective spirit. Mr. Jain also spoke with some exhibitors, participating in the exhibition.

The ONGC Segment of the pavilion witnessed a crowding of representatives from various companies on the first day with queries on various issues like mapping, well-control, digital solutions for production, production from 98/2 field in KG Basin, asset risk management, strategic initiatives in renewables, hydrogen, bio-fuel, energy transition, etc.  The interest in the ONGC counter was positive throughout the opening day. A number of senior executives of global bodies, service providers, and representatives of the Government of Alberta State, Canada, wanted to meet the ONGC delegation, led by Chairman & CEO Arun Kumar Singh. The ONGC brochure and corporate presentation were downloaded from the QR code by a number of visitors who attended the exhibition, especially the presentation related to the collaboration and partnership opportunities in the upcoming projects.

This is the 24th edition of the global energy meet being held in Calgary, popularly seen as a global energy capital. The theme of this edition of WPC is Energy Transition: The Path to Net Zero.

ONGC Chairman & CEO Arun Kumar Singh Kumar will be speaking on ‘Transformation of the Oil & Gas Business’ on 19 September 2023 at the Plenary Session with Repsol (Spain) CEO JosuJon Imaz, Korea National Oil Corporation (Korea) President and CEO Dong Sub Kim and Suncor Energy Inc. (Canada) President and CEO Mark Little.

The ONGC delegation, comprising Chairman & CEO Arun Kumar Singh, ONGC Videsh-Managing Director Rajarshi Gupta, ONGC Director (Finance) Pomila Jaspal, ONGC Director (Exploration) Sushma Rawat, and other senior executives, are holding parleys with prospective business partners to bring further momentum in ONGC’s aggressive push to intensify exploration and production and energy transition initiatives.
