The India Pavilion at the 23rd World Petroleum Congress at Houston (USA) was inaugurated by ONGC CMD Subhash Kumar on 6 December 2021. The India Pavilion has been set up to showcase the opportunities offered by Indian petroleum industry to its global peers to invest for productive partnerships in India and abroad. Mr Kumar was accompanied by IOCL Director (HR) Dr Ranjan Mahapatra, IOCL Director (R&D) SSV Ramakumar, ONGC Director (Exploration) RK Srivastava, Director (Onshore) Anurag Sharma and DG FIPI Gurmeet Singh.

Six (6) central public enterprises under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (viz. ONGC, OIL, IOCL, BPCL, HPCL and EIL), apart from Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) are participating in the India Pavilion, under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, to showcase the opportunities in Indian petroleum sector to the global energy industry. The inauguration was accompanied by an Indian cultural show (Indian classical dance with flute recital) with an India-originated band flown in to Houston from Los Angeles.

After inaugurating the India pavilion, Mr. Kumar went around the India pavilion to take a closer look at the stalls of all the participating petroleum public enterprises in the pavilion. He spoke about the efforts to consolidate the evolving India story in the petroleum industry and take it forward with a collective spirit. Mr. Kumar also spoke with some local exhibitors in Houston in Spanish.

The ONGC Segment of the pavilion witnessed crowding of representatives from various companies on the first day with queries on various issues like mapping, well control and digital solutions for production. The interest in the ONGC counter was positive throughout the opening day, notwithstanding limited footfalls in other parts of the exhibition due to the re-emerging uncertainty of the pandemic.

A number of senior executives of global bodies like IADC and Halliburton wanted to meet the ONGC delegation led by CMD Subhash Kumar. The ONGC brochure was downloaded from the QR code by a number of visitors to the Exhibition.

This is the 23rd edition of the global energy meet being held in Houston, popularly seen as the global energy capital. The theme of this edition of WPC is Innovative Energy Solutions. The event, which has come back to the USA after three decades, is being organized at the George R Brown Convention Center.

ONGC CMD Subhash Kumar will be speaking on ‘Transformation of the Oil & Gas Business’ on 7 December 2021 at the Plenary Session with Repsol (Spain) CEO Josu Jon Imaz, Korea National Oil Corporation (Korea) President and CEO Dong Sub Kim and Suncor Energy Inc. (Canada) President and CEO Mark Little.

Following up on its recent networking efforts in Adipec and Dubai Expo in November 2021, the ONGC delegation comprising of CMD Subhash Kumar, Director (Exploration) RK Srivastava, Director (Onshore) Anurag Sharma and senior executives are holding parleys with prospective business partners to bring further momentum in ONGC’s aggressive push to intensify Exploration & Production. Strategic collaborations are being sought from among global players in E&P space for:

  • Bidding out of marginal fields
  • Production enhancement contract
  • Consolidating international footprints
  • Partners for HP-HT and Difficult plays
  • Collaboration in Exploration & Development
  • Reorienting ONGC portfolio to align with emerging scenario
