India touched hundred crore mark in vaccinating its people against the Corona Virus. Without resting on laurels, to sustain such landmark achievement and make the medical help accessible to the needy in remote corners of country, ONGC, under its CSR initiatives, has established an Oxygen PSA Plant in the premises of Swargdev Siu-Ka-pha multi-speciality hospital in Sivasagar.

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, accompanied by MP and Member of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas Topon Kumar Gogoi and ED-Asset Manager of Assam Asset R K Sharma, inaugurated the Oxygen PSA Plant at ONGC-supported multi-speciality hospital in Sivasagar in Assam.

Addressing the gathering the CM said that oxygen shortage was witnessed during second wave. An oxygen plant will be of great help to meet rising oxygen demand and fear of third wave.

“I am very happy to inaugurate the Oxygen plant and launch the Siu Ka Pha Sanjivani Scheme under ONGC CSR. Oxygen plant will meet the needs of the patients in Hospital and the 100 oxygen concentrators will secure the health of the people by providing oxygen to the patients’ right at their home,” said the Chief Minister assuring to resolve the road communication issues of the hospital soon.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Resident In-charge of the Hospital Dr Prakash expressed gratitude to ONGC, Director (HR), ED-Chief CSR and ED-Asset Manager for expediting the approvals and rendering local support whenever sought.

ED-Asset Manager, on behalf ONGC, felicitated the Hon’bleChief Minister with Assamese ethnic shawls and presented a sapling.

On the occasion, the CM visited the ONGC-funded inflatable COVID-Care center and enquired about the arrangements for the patients and the treatment protocol. The COVID-care establishment at the hospital includes 60 beds with 20-bed ICU facility. The Oxygen PSA plant is a new addition to strengthen COVID-care.

The second phase of the hospital would be ready by April 2022 with 150 beds in addition to the existing 65 beds. It will also have additional departments such as Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Urology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Pediatric Surgery, Surgical Gastroenterology, Plastic & Cosmetics Surgery, etc.

Later, he was briefed about the ONGC's support and phase-wise development of the hospital by the Siu-Ka-pha authorities. The authorities informed that since inception it has offered 42627 OPD consultations, conducted 10922 Dialysis procedures besides offering affordable COVID-care in the inflatable AC COVID center established with the aid from ONGC as CSR initiative.

The much-needed medical category Oxygen plant has been installed in the hospital to cater to the demands of COVID patients and the regular hospital requirements. This plant has the capacity of producing fifteen cubic meters per hour of oxygen. Team CSR and CC of the Asset has coordinated with the hospital authorities for effective execution of the event proceedings.
