The unabating contributions of energy major ONGC towards the nation’s economy gets recognized yet again as the company retains its place among the top 500 companies in the world. The Maharatna ranked 243 in this year’s Fortune Global 500 list. Last year, ONGC clinched 160th position in the list. The general decline in ranking of all Indian oil & gas majors this year is due to the inevitable challenges posed by the pandemic and subsequent drop in oil prices.
The Fortune ranking is based on turnover (revenues). ONGC registered a total profit of $2,189 million in the last fiscal with total revenue of $46,597 million. According to Fortune data, the combined sales of the 500 companies in the premier list are equal to more than one-third of the global GDP.
ONGC has been excelling in the rankings at other global platforms as well. ONGC’s continuing venture to nurture young talents and help employees to grow made it featured among LinkedIn’s Top 25 best workplaces to grow a career in India.
ONGC also featured in the Forbes Global list of 750 World Best Employers compiled in partnership with market research firm Statista. ONGC ranked 377 in the fourth annual survey conducted across 58 countries.
