Energy major ONGC has been recognized as the ‘Maharatna of the Year (Non-Manufacturing)’ among India’s Best Public Sector Undertakings 2020 by the Dalal Street Investment Journal. This recognition is a testament to ONGC’s sustained contribution to nation-building, ensuring energy security and supporting the country’s economic growth. It holds special significance in the face of the hardship brought by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Strong operational and financial performance in the strategically important sectors of oil and gas has put ONGC among the top performing PSEs. The acknowledgement of ONGC’s contribution by DSIJ, one of the country’s leading voices in trade and investment, delivers a much-needed boost to the morale of the energy soldiers of the country.
The recognition was awarded to ONGC after an in-debt assessment of the stature, finances, performance, operational efficiency and growth of the company relative to its peers in the category by a panel of eminent jurists of DSIJ. The basic parameters to assess the winner companies are in terms of balance sheet, size, net sales and profitability. The awards will be published as a Collector’s Edition with the Dalal Street Journal May 2021 edition.
The journal has been recognizing the efforts and brilliant achievements of the PSUs in India since 2009 with this flagship initiative. Over the years, it has served as an exclusive platform to recognize the accomplishments of PSUs in India. Notably, ONGC has featured in the list of Best Public Sector Undertakings numerous times in one or another category.
