ONGC joins the nation to observe 71st Constitution Day

Energy Mahartna Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) joined the nation to observe the 71st Constitution day on 26 November 2020, by pledging to keep the spirit of sovereignty, secularism and democracy uplifted. On the outset, CMD Mr Shashi Shanker, the Executive Committee and ONGC Energy Soldiers across the country, read out the Preamble of the Constitution through virtual medium, along with the President Mr Ram Nath Kovind.

ONGC Corporate Office Delhi, in association with All India SC/ST Employees Welfare Association (AISCSTEWA), celebrated the day by paying tribute to the architect of Indian Constitution Dr B R Ambedkar, amidst the presence of Director (HR) Dr Alka Mittal. ED Head Coordination Mr H P Singh, Chief Corporate Communication Mr Harish Awal, CLO,CGM (HR) Mrs Shashi Prasad kick-started the celebration. The observance began with garlanding the portrait of Dr B R Ambedkar. Chairman Mr B S Pangtey and Secretary Mr Satyender Kumar of AISTSCEWA, along with other employees joined the observance.

To further signify the celebrations, ONGC in association with Asmita Theatre Group organized and live-streamed a Solo Play, 'MookNayak', on the life & struggle and ideology of Baba Sahib Ambedkar. The play, written by Mr Rajesh Kumar, was enacted by veteran actor Mr Bajrang Bali Singh and directed by Mr Arvind Gaur. Asmita Theatre Group extended special thanks to All India SC & ST Employees Welfare Association (AISCSTWEA) of ONGC Delhi, including Chairman Mr B S Pangtey, Secretary Mr Satyendra Kumar, Chief liaison officer Ms Shashi k Parsad and Executive Director Mr Harishankar parsad singh.

The 71st Constitution Day was celebrated at all work centers of the energy major across the country, following the COVID-19 guidelines and social distancing.

ONGC Dehradun observed the Constitution Day along with AISCSTEWA at Tel Bhavan. GGM-Head Corporate Administration, along with other ONGCians at Dehradun, read the Preamble with the President through webcast at Green Hills Atrium.

Ahmedabad Asset celebrated the Samvidhan Diwas, commemorating the adaption of the Constitution and paying tribute to Dr Ambedkar – who played the pivotal role in drafting the supreme law book of the country. ED – Asset Manager Mr Pankaj Kumar read the Preamble in English, followed by GM (HR) Mr S K Chaturvedi in Hindi and Chairman, AISCSTEWA Ahmedabad Mr J J Parmar in Gujarati.

Constitution Day is celebrated at all work centers of ONGC every year on 26 November to commemorate the adoption of Indian Constitution. The Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution on 26 November 1949 and it came into effect on 26 January 1950. The Government declared 26 November as Constitution Day in 2015, on 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar, who chaired the drafting committee of Constituent Assembly and played a pivotal role in introducing the constitution.
