The Institute of Petroleum Safety, Health and Environment Management (IPSHEM) was set by ONGC in Goa in the year 1989 for promoting safety, occupational health and environment practices and standards in Petroleum sector. It started functioning from its own campus at Betul village in South Goa since 1997.

Highlights (2020-21):

1. Significant Projects:

High impact projects of IPSHEM during 2020-21 are given below:

  • Offshore Environment Monitoring in Western Offshore & Gulf of Saurashtra was carried out.
  • Offshore Environment Monitoring in Eastern Offshore (Deep Water) was carried out.
  • Measurement of concentration of Uranium and Rare Earth elements in core samples from ONGC Energy Centre was done.
  • Trend analysis of Environment parameters around Western Offshore from 1994 to 2019 was completed.

2. Technologies upgraded/ inducted:

Following Instruments were Procured, Installed & commissioned at Environment Lab, IPSHEM

  • Gas Chromatograph ( Model : Nexis 2030 AF, Make : Toshvin)
  • Fluorescence Spectrophotometer ( Model : Cary eclipse, Make : Agilent)
  • TOC Analyser ( Model : TOCLCPH, Make : Shimadzu)
  • Water Purification System ( Model : Elix Essential 3 & MilliQ Advantage A10, Make : Millipore)
