ONGC Academy facilitates ’EXPONENT’, a comprehensive training programme, Skilled Development Centres (SDCs) and globally recognized domain experts for nurturing the energy leaders of tomorrow.  After the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, ONGC Academy immediately took the lead to facilitate online trainings. The process of seeking nominations, feedback forms and issuance of training completion certificates was automated. Six institutes are presently conducting online trainings. This has resulted in a paradigm shift in the training process of ONGC and has also led to massive cost savings.

Highlights (2020-21):

In 2020-21 ONGC Academy has conducted 199 online training programmes. The total manpower trained was 6739 with 109271 training man days including sponsored training programmes.

During the year, under GT Induction Training Programmes, 812 GT trainees were exposed to various E&P activities through General Theoretical Training (GTT), Multi-Disciplinary Field Familiarisation Training (MDFF), Specialised Training (ST) and On Job Training (OJT). All interactions and GTT were organized in online mode.

During the year 46 MDP programmes were conducted & 1062 participants attended the programmes with 3782 man days and 72 general programmes were organized & 1931 participants attended the programmes with 4701 man days.

During the year Functional Training Group (FTG) has conducted 31 online training programmes by in-house Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Domain Experts in the areas of geosciences, engineering & finance, attended by 1108 participants with 3628 man days.

To enhance the capability of Offshore Assets and Drilling Services in handling major emergencies, ONGC Academy has conducted Major Emergency Management Initial Response (MEMIR) training programmes in ONGC Academy as per Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organization (OPITO) standards.

ONGC Academy conducted 24 online programmes which was attended by 1004 participants with 1536 man days.

During the year under Students Academic Intensive Learning programmes (SAIL) online Summer/Winter trainings were organized for more than 590 students from various universities and institutes.

New initiatives/highlights undertaken by ONGC Academy during 2020-21 are as under:

  • SOP for online training was developed and shared with all Institutes.
  • Two day programs each on Appreciation Course in Parliamentary Practices, Processes and Procedures and Preventive Vigilance training were undertaken for GT’s through online mode.
  • Three day Training Workshop for ONGC Officials on Disaster Management and Resilience was organized by ONGC and National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM).
  • Two new programs - Executive Development Program (EDP) (E0-E1 promoted officers) and MDP (E4-E5 promoted officers) were conducted this year in Annual Training Calendar for the first time.
  • 1 Day Disaster Management online course conducted for oil PSUs by ONGC Academy through NIDM.
  • Case Study Writing Competition for ONGC employees was organised by ONGC Academy in April 2020, which was followed by an E-Conference on presentation of the winning case studies.
  • Nominations, Feedback and Issuance of Certificates were automated and digitised through in-house efforts without incurring any costs.
  • EBSCO Knowledge resources shared on ONGC Reports for employees as well as retired employees to access more than 9000 e-books/journals online on a 24X7 basis.
  • Government e-Market Place (GeM)- Awareness and online demonstration was organized by ONGC Academy.
  • Sensitisation Workshops on Covid19 for employees and families were undertaken through online platforms.
