The Golden Peacock Environment Management Award 2019 was conferred to Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC). The honor was bestowed to the energy Maharatna in recognition to its excellent Environment Management practices – mainly including the use of renewable energy, concept of green buildings, paperless initiative, elimination of single-use plastics, plantation outside operational areas and others.

The award was bestowed upon ONGC by Mr M N Venkatachaliah, National Chairman, Institute of Directors and former Chief Justice of India & Chairman, National Commission for Constitution of India Reforms. Also present in the ceremony was Mr Ovais Sarmad, who is Assistant Secretary-General & Deputy Executive Secretary, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The Award ceremony was organized during the 21st Annual World Congress on Environment Management and Climate Change by Institute Of Directors at Bengaluru.

In another major honorary recognition of ONGC, the energy major has bagged four Awards in the Maharatna category in the Dun & Bradstreet (DNB) PSU Awards 2019 on 22 August. ONGC was awarded in the categories - Best in Mining and Exploration (Crude Oil), Best Maharatna in Mining and Exploration, Best in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiatives and Best in Swachh Bharat Initiatives.
