Continuing the exemplary performance in Asian Games 2018 at Jakarta, ONGC sportspersons clinched two more medals- one Gold and one Silver on Day 13 of Asiad. ONGC Duo M R Poovamma and Hima Das won Gold in Women’s 4x400 m Relay event. Continuing the strike in Silver Category, ONGCian Dharun Ayyasamy grabbed Silver Medal in Men’s 4x400 m Relay today. With these, the Medal Tally of ONGC stands at 14 - the highest ever since 2006.
On Day 12 of the Asiad, Swapna Barman won the Gold Medal in Women’s Heptathlon, while Arpinder Singh won the Gold Medal in Triple Jump event. India clinched a Gold in Triple Jump event after a span of 48 years.
Expressing his deepest happiness on this laudable feat, Shri Shashi Shanker, CMD, ONGC said, “This victory will go down as one of the most commendable achievements for the company in the field of sports. ONGC Sportspersons are committed to bring more and more laurels for the country at International level and for this, ONGC will provide all the necessary support to them, he added.
M R Poovamma joined ONGC in May 2012 and this is her second consecutive Gold, with her first in Incheon Asiad 2014.
Hima Das who joined ONGC in April, 2018 on scholarship roll won Gold at the recent World U20 Championship at Tampere in 2018.
Dharun Ayyasamy joined ONGC in April, 2017 and this is his second Silver Medal in the ongoing Asiad.
Arpinder Singh who joined ONGC in May, 2012 has claimed a Bronze Medal in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Swapna Burman joined ONGC in April 2015 on scholarship roll and with this victory, becomes the first Indian to win Asiad Heptathlon Gold.
