On 9 January 2018, a road tanker containing 16 KL of Acetone overturned and caught fire on Baruch-Jambusar Gujarat State Highway near Amod, Gujarat at around 17.00 Hrs. A request was received from P.I. of Police Station, Amod to the Incharge of the Fire Services Ankleshwar Asset. Immediately, a Fire tender from ONGC Fire Station, North Gandhar was mobilized. Due to fire damage, the state highway traffic was stopped, resulting in a heavy traffic jam. However, police cleared the way for the fire service team to reach the site.
The fire crew headed by FM-I Mr. SS Parmar, along with FM-II Mr. HC Yadav and FM-II Mr. BU Pawar, on arrival sensed that it is a major incident and needs additional resources to contain the fire. Further, delay in fire fighting operation would aggregate it. So they decided to take up the challenge head on.
Their Courage, Determination and Skill came handy to control and extinguish the fire in least possible time and prevent the major catastrophe. Otherwise as per SOP its required minimum two crew to control the fire. The police department had appreciated their efforts and conveyed thanks to ONGC for timely help. ED-Asset Manager, ONGC Ankleshwar Asset also congratulated the team for the commendable job done by the Asset Fire Services Team.
