Onshore Mr. A K Hazarika

The Government of India has entrusted the additional charge of Chairman & Managing Director, ONGC and Director (Exploration), ONGC to Mr. A K Hazarika, Director (Onshore), ONGC from February 1, 2011.

Mr. Hazarika is a Ist class graduate in Mechanical engineering from Assam Engineering College, Guwahati. He joined ONGC as Graduate Trainee in 1976. His first assignment was as Driller (Cementing) in Assam. He remained in Assam upto 1989 at various important positions with increasing complex responsibilities. He was transferred to Madras (now Chennai) and given the responsibility of In-charge-Cementing Services for entire ONGC. Due to his meritorious work, he was declared Drilling Engineer of the year 1990. He was transferred to Mumbai in 1995. During the tenure at Mumbai, he was declared as Head of Multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to work on prestigious project of Mumbai High Redevelopment projects (North & South). Due to his excellent contribution in Drilling Services he was elevated to the position of Head of Well Services Mumbai in April 2002. Mr. Hazarika rose to the position of Executive Director and Chief-Well Services from January 2003, establishing his leadership and people managing abilities. Mr. Hazarika was selected by Govt. of India to the position of Director (Onshore) in September 2004 at Delhi where he is presently looking after all the onshore operations of ONGC spread over the entire country.

The additional responsibilities of Mr. Hazarika include Director on board - in ONGC Videsh Limited, ONGC Tripura Power Company and Chairman of ONGC TERI Bio-tech. Limited, Director In-charge – Material Management, Health, Safety & Environment and Carbon Management Group. Further, the professional association include Member of Governing Council of Petroleum Federation of India (Petro-Fed), Chairman of Working Group for UCG (Underground Coal Gassification) constituted by the office of Principal Scientific Advisor, Government of India. Nominated by MoPNG (Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas) as Indian representative of Oil & Gas sub-committee of International M2M (Methane to Market) partnership under USEPA (United States Environment Protection Agency). He is also a professional member of Society of Petroleum Engineers, New Delhi Chapter. Mr. Hazarika was also the Elected Chairperson of SPE Chapter of Delhi for 2007 & during his tenure SPE New Delhi Section conferred with SPE President's Award for the section Excellence from SPE President. He was the Chairman of the Exhibition Committee in Petrotech 2010, an International Oil and Gas Conference & Exhibition and has received "Greening of Oil & Gas business Award 2010” in Petrotech 2010.
