An accident happened yesterday, June 11, 2015 around 11.30 in the morning when a team of contractual workers belonging to a facility management company A2Z, were doing a routine maintenance job in an Air Conditioning workshop at the Institute of Drilling Technology in Dehradun.
The unfortunate accident, reportedly caused by an explosion in an AC compressor unit, left four mechanics injured and were rushed to ONGC hospital immediately. One of the mechanics, Mahipal Singh Khatri (44) was declared brought dead in the hospital. Another mechanic, having about 30 per cent burn injury, is still under observation in Max Hospital in Dehradun. His condition is stated to be critical but stable. Two other mechanics have been released after first aid.
ONGC has meanwhile constituted a three member committee under GGM-Head HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) to ascertain the cause of the accident and to suggest improvement and remedial measures to avoid recurrence of such incidents in futur.
ONGC has announced an ex gratia of Rs five lakh to the bereaved family.
ONGC deeply mourns the loss of precious life in this accident. The company also ensured all medical support to the injured.
